Fast Track to the Mobile App Contest Entry
Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 10:18PM Near the end of last semester I entered Core77's Fast Track to the Mobile App contest. It involved creating a concept for a productivity app for the Windows Phone Marketplace. I had an idea bouncing around in my head for awhile so I mocked it up and entered.
The app aims to improve the collection, organization, and sharing of inspirational images for creative profesionals. As you are browsing the web you can tag images and they are automatically saved to a personal database along with the metadata of the page it came from. You can then later browse through your images and share with your friends.
In the end I placed as a finalist, and I had the opportunity to push and develop the concept to market and become a special finalist, but I had found a couple of web apps that were similar to my concept so I decided to not pursue it any further.
Wookmark.com and Pinterest are really close to what I was thinking of when I started this project. They are both relatively new and when I entered I didn't know they existed. I guess this means I was onto something, but I was just a year or two too late. I've signed up for Pinterest so feel free to follow me here. To see the entry PDF I created for the contest click here.
Note: No infringement is intended. I have stopped development now that the concept is proven to already exist.
